I enjoy fine setting in this book; Rome of Italy, Balkan, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Macau, Pyongyang of North Korea, Lake Baikal of Russia, Khentii Mountain, Ulan Bator of Mongolia, and Olkhon Island in Russia. If you are looking for a thriller book that filled by history, international action, intrigue, and adventure, so you may give a try this excellent book.

Prologue

The story of Attila of Hun and Pope Leo I was on summer AD 453 in central Hungary. Attila’s barbarian horde were routing the northern Italy of Padua and Milan, slaughtering all in their path. They killed men, women and children. His Holiness Pope Leo I rode out from his earthly throne to meet the tyrant on banks of Lake Garda.

Rome was doomed to fall under the ungodly sword. Princess Ildiko was the daughter of a Burgundy prince. She was the King Attilla’s seventh wife, newly wed, and was bound to this barbarian lord by force of marriage and intrigue. She kept a mysterious box that consisted of the skulls and relic in ancient Jews script. Pope Leo I had offered them to Attila with a plea for Rome’s salvation. Ildiko bravely killed her barbarian husband.

Present day.    Monsignor Vigor Verona was a member of Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology and only taught the occasional class as a guest lecturer. He now served the Holy as the perfect Archivio Segretto Vaticano, the Vatican’s secret archives. In his mid-sixties, he was still fit from decades of archaeological fieldwork while his niece came into his door. He asked her favor to investigate a package from a dead colleague that declared dead over decade ago. Not yet thirty, Rachel, was already a lieutenant for Commando Carabinieri Tutela Patrimonio Culturale, the Culture Heritage Police, who oversaw the trafficking of stolen art and relics.

At the same day in El Segundo, California.   Only twenty-three, Dr. Jada Shaw, this young astrophysicist had been whisked from Harvard and encoded in code-black military venture. She was on of Sigma code-black military which operated under aegis of DARPA. At same date too in Macau, People’s Republic of China, Commander Grays Pierce and Seichan Kowalski were field operatives for Sigma Force, a covert wing of DARPA, made up of former Special Force soldiers who had been retrained in various scientific disciplines to protect against global threats.

Seichan was former assassin for international criminal organization, until recruited by force of circumstance to ally with Sigma. Macau, a former Portuguese colony, had become the Sin City of the South China coast, a gambling mecca that had already surpassed Las Vegas in game revenues. The satellite of NASA has crashed in Mongolian ground that triggered DARPA to investigate it. The Sigma Force teams, Rachel and her uncle and other characters revealed some mysteries.

A shocking fact was about Temujin later well-known as Genghis Khan (mean ruler of universe). A well-documented genetics study showed that one out of two hundred men in the world carry the same unique Y chromosome, a chromosome with a set of distinct markers that trace their roots to Mongolia. That number climbed to one out of ten in regions that were once part of the ancient Mongol Empire. The report concluded that this Y chromosome came down from one individual, someone who lived approximately a thousand years in Mongolia. Genghis Khan and his close male relatives took multiple wives, had even more offspring through rape and conquest. They conquered half the known world.
